Case study 1: The Rockford Files
In episode 18 of Season 1, Linda Evans aka Krystle Carrington of Dynasty fame starred as an ex-girlfriend of Jim Rockfords. (side note: Jim Rockford is played by James Garner who is also the grandfather from 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter! I only realised this recently when I watched the end of The Notebook and suddenly realised that Ryan Gosling as an old man was also Jim Rockford. Exciting times I tell ya!) Anywho, Jim's ex-girlfriend Claire, came back to seek help from him as someone is after her (yawn, this is the plot EVERY week, Jim can't leave his mobile home on the beach without being followed.) Cut to episode 2 of Season 2, and Linda Evans is back, only this time she's playing a children's author by the name of Audrey. I know this is a whole new series and back in 1975, Linda Evans was probably not as well known, but to play Jim Rockford's ex-girlfriend and then to come back as a whole different person seems a bit far fetched to me!
Case study 2: The Twilight Zone
In Season 2, episode 17, Jonathan Harris stars as a doctor, not exactly a huge role but a role nonetheless. Then only 8 episodes later, there he is again, playing a different character! Yes, I know actors are allowed to play more than one role in their lives, but come on Twilight Zone, be a bit more inventive with your casting!
Case study 3: Home and Away
This one is really just for my own enjoyment. The ginger Australian girl, the one who is in every Australian programme ever with the ginger Australian guy who's in everything! You know the one.

In 1996, token ginger girl played Mikki Salter in Home and Away (stupid name, nothing new for Summer Bay). In fact, she was the one who gave Sam his first kiss. Cut to 1999 and token ginger girl is back only this time her name is Miranda Porter and shock of all shocks, Sam doesn't seem to remember her. Eventually she got the hots for Joey Rainbow, racked off to the city and I think he eventually followed her there. No doubt she'll be back any day now playing someone else.
